Cradle To Cradle

Cradle to Cradle Certified® is a globally recognised measure of safer, more sustainable products made for the circular economy.

To receive certification, products are assessed for environmental and social performance across five critical sustainability categories: material health, material reuse, renewable energy and carbon management, water stewardship, and social fairness.

The material health category helps to ensure products are made using chemicals that are as safe as possible for humans and the environment by leading designers and product developers through a process of inventorying, assessing and optimising material chemistries.

Our Low-Impact dyes are GOTS and Cradle to Cradle certified which means that no substances present in the formulation at a concentration of 100 ppm or above poses a risk to humans or the environment during textile dying, use, or end-of-use.

Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)

GOTS is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres.

It defines and requires compliance with strict ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain

This standard stipulates requirements throughout the supply chain for both ecological and labour conditions in textile and apparel manufacturing using organically produced raw materials. Organic production is based on a system of farming that maintains and replenishes soil fertility without the use of toxic, persistent pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. In addition, it includes welfare standards for animal husbandry and prohibits genetically modified organisms.

A GOTS Certification helps to ensure compliance towards each of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

National Program for Organic Production (NPOP)

The APEDA, Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Government of India has implementing the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP). The programme involves the accreditation of Certification Bodies, implementation of standards for organic production as well as the promotion of organic farming. The NPOP standards for production and accreditation system have been recognised by The European Commission and Switzerland for unprocessed plant products as equivalent to their home country standards.

Organic Content Standard (OCS)

The Organic Content Standard (OCS) is a standard for tracking the presence and amount of organic material in a final product. It tracks the flow of a raw material and verifies that the organic content is consistently maintained from farm to final product. It requires that each organisation along the supply chain take sufficient steps to ensure that the integrity and identity of the input material is preserved.

Planet Positive Materials

At the atelier, Planet Positive Materials is the term given to materials that resonate with us on the inside and we feel good about using. They are ethically sourced, organic, bio-dynamic, fair-trade, biodegradable, low impact, cruelty free and/or recycled, renewable or regenerative in a way that benefits both people and planet.

As much as we love organic materials that come to us gift-wrapped from nature herself, it is also important to use materials that already exist and remain in circulation instead of following a linear, single-use model of consumption. This is why we also adopt beautiful recycled materials and remnants at times, to be used on their own as well as in combination with our organic treasures. These are as cherished as our exquisite organics and help us give a second life to what is already in circulation.

Wildcrafting

Wildcrafting is the gathering of native herbs and plants from their natural habitats, where they grow freely in pristine environments, untouched by humans.

World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO)

The WFTO Guarantee System ensures that all certified organisations are truly Fair Trade Enterprises in all aspects.

A fair trade certification ensures fair wages, safe working conditions as well as a serious commitment to support + preserve sustainable livelihoods and ecological biodiversity. This translates to a tangible difference within supply chains and includes the allocation of funds for community development.

This means they are aligned with our code of ethics and pioneer models of business that put people and planet first with the hope of building back better.

These enterprises transform local communities, pioneer upcycling and social enterprise, celebrate and empower women leadership, champion refugee rights and practice organic farming. Their impact goes far and wide, demonstrating that a better world is possible.
